Craft Corner: Toiletries Bag

I was so pleased with the Hobo Bag project from Tschibo that I went into their store last week to find something new and I was in luck as they had this matching Toiletries Bag. Once again, it was easy to follow with its multilingual instructions and easy to follow diagrams.  It took no time at all and I am really pleased with the outcome - just in time to take to Denmark!

 Here's the kit as it looked when I unpacked it all.

 First jobs were to add the piping and sew up the little strap.

 Then the bag was sewn together.  As with the Hobo Bag, I was really pleased with the inside details and the fact that the bag can stand up.

When the machine work was finished, all that remained was to add the final embellishments by hand.

One of my favourite things about visiting is a new city is the unexpected moments and sights that are long remembered.  That said, there are always some things that just have to be done.  Here are a few that I hope to be doing as you read this.

This is an absolute must.  Not only was The Little Mermaid the first film I saw at the cinema but it's also, the only sight I knew about Copenhagen before researching this trip.  I've been told it's a little bit disappointing but I don't care - I have to see it.

Tivoli is the oldest theme park in Europe from what I understand and the grounds look lovely too.  It was highly recommended by a colleague who loves the city.  Looking forward to exploring here if we get the weather we've been promised!

Another colleague, and a Danish one at that, recommended that we take a boat tour of the harbour so we will definitely be trying to squeeze that in.  We loved our tour of Amsterdam by boat and I imagine this will be similar.

Finally, we will be doing some climbing.  My Dad and I read the Steve Berry books and they are often set partly in Copenhagen.  One of them features a tower in the city centre.  We're not sure which one but we will definitely be looking out for it!

The Saturday Update

This first week of holidays was lovely.  We started off relaxing in the flat, getting lots of little jobs done but not overdoing it.

We are just about caught up on our programmes, we've done lots of cooking and baking as well as crafts and the blog is well up to date.

By the time you read this, we will be swanning around Copenhagen, waving at the mermaid and spending quality time with my dad.

Next week, once we get back and pick Pete up, we will be paying a visit to Nico's family and preparing for our return to school.

Short but sweet this week, due to all the relaxing but well earned I think.  Have a good one!

Project Life: Week 27

Quite a plain spread this week but with lots going on despute a relatively quiet week.  We had our three year anniversary and I got going on the crafts and running while Nico did some romantic baking.

Making the most of the extra time this week, I finally got around to the inserts I wanted to do for our wedding.  It' not finalised yet but here's how it looks at the moment and I am really pleased with it.

I really like the large print but it I may use that for the reverse and put one of the photos of us by the lake in the front with some text over it.  I then added a second insert which is like my usual ones but half the size.

This allowed me to add lots more photos from the day.  I added daytime ones in the front and some of my favourite from the evening at the back.  I'm really pleased with it and plan to do more of these when I have lots of photos.  Maybe even after Denmark!

Happy TImes:Forrest Gump

Absolutely loved watching this film with my year nine class in preparation for the film review assignment after the holidays. 

The film never gets boring, no matter how many times I see it.  There are few films that can make me laugh, cry and feel a whole range of emotions in between.

Tom Hanks is also one of my favourite actors and he thoroughly deserved the Best Actor Oscar for his work here.

This time I especially notice the music and was moved so far as to invest in the soundtrack - well worth it.

Recipe: Blueberry Muffins

Ingredients:

•  50g margarine
• 150g sugar
• 2 eggs
• 200g rice flour
• baking powder
• 175g quark
• vanilla sugar
• blueberries

Instructions:

1. Mix the margarine and sugar until fluffy.
2. Mix in the eggs.
3. Add the sifted flour and baking powder.
4. Mix in the quark, adding the vanilla and blueberries last.
5. Divide into twelve muffin cases and bake at 220 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.

Running

As I mentioned, I got back out running again last week for the first time in a while and, considering the darker evenings and mornings, I went out with all my kit.  This includes my new Ipod case - thanks Mum and my flashy high vis band - thanks hubby.  They make running safer and more entertaining. 

I don't know about you but I find it much easier to run when I have something to listen to.  I hope I'll be able to keep running up for a while now.
