Today I made my first pompom using the pompom maker from my knitting course.
It's one of four I need to finish up a bigger project I'm hoping to share here soon.
I found an online tutorial through google and got to work. I'm so pleased with the finished pompom, much better than the one I made using my hand.
Looking forward to piecing the final project together.

Make it Monday - Knitted Cushion Cover
This week I finally finished the second and final ongoing project from my knitting course - a cushion cover to match the patchwork blanket. I love it!
I've been knitting a piece each week. They are all different but look fab together.
Once the pieces were sewn together, I crocheted three borders and sewed them together, inserting the cushion before sewing up the final side.
That is my knitting course complete. Now I should have time to go back and try a few of the bigger projects.

Make it Monday: Knitting Update
I'm still going strong on my knitting course, knitting a patch a week on my cushion cover to match my blanket.
I love the variety and colour in these weekly instalments. I am ready to get my teeth into a bigger project but until I have more time, these weekly projects are keeping me going.

Make it Monday - Knitted Cushion Update
In between all of my ongoing projects and life in general, I haven't got a complete new project to share this week. Instead, I thought I'd update you on my knitting.
For over two years now, I've been following the Simple Stylish knitting course. In each issue, they provide materials and instructions for an ongoing project.
For two years, this project was a blanket which is now complete. Now, I'm working on a matching cushion. I especially like that the patches are all different shapes and sizes. I love that the colours match, and so far, I'm really enjoying it.

Make it Monday - Knitted Headband
In keeping with my goal to create more this year, I knitted this girl's headband for a little girl who turns one this week.
It's my first make from this book. It was my first time knitting with English instructions for a while and I even learned some new skills.
It's really cute and luckily I have lots of wool left over as Isabella likes it too!

Make it Monday - Knitted Blanket
Today I'm sharing my knitted blanket with you. After a year of knitting one patch almost every week, it's finished! It's so warm, I love the colours and it shows so many techniques that I have learned.
Next, I'll be crocheting a decorative edge and knitting a matching cushion.
I can't recommend the Simple Stylish magazines enough. I've enjoyed the knitting one so much that I recently signed up for and started the crochet course too! It's available in English and German.

Make it Monday - Spiral Scarf
This is one of the few 'big projects' I've completed from my knitting course since I finally got caught up on the blanket patches thanks to maternity leave.
I loved the spiral effect and the colours and the whole thing was much more simple than it looked, it just took longer than I'm used to.
I'm hoping it will make a nice Christmas gift. I'm also hoping to make a second one soon as I have enough wool left!

Make it Monday - Knitted Blanket Update
I'm currently working on patch number forty for this blanket!
I don't really treat this as a project as it's one I keep plodding away at week after week and suddenly it hits me how big it's getting. When I get to fifty, I think I'll start preparing and joining them.
I think it's going to look really nice when it is done and I'll be proud of the technique it shows.

Make It Monday - Knitted Baby Bonnet
I've been working on this one since before Christmas. I wanted a nice present for my nieces and although it's going to be late, I think this is perfect.
It's actually much bigger than I thought so I may have to try a smaller size and try this one on Isabella.
On the knitting front, this was a nice change from the patches and I learned how to cast off on three needles.
Looking forward to the next challenge now.

Make It Monday - Knitted Mittens
This week I finally knitted a second project from my knitting course. I needed a birthday present for a friend's little boy and these seemed perfect.
I learned some new skills including matress stitch and making thumbs. There was also some crochet involved.
Hopefully Jack will like wearing them as much as I liked making them!

Make It Monday - Patchwork Blanket Update
I'm just halfway through my next sewing project so I thought I would update you on my knitting this week.
I'm currently working on patch number twenty-one! Above you can see the twenty finished ones. I'm still really enjoying this project and keeping my brain active with new patterns every week.
These two are my favourites so far. Can't wait to see them all together!

Make It Monday - Knitted Loop Scarf
This weekend I finally finished this scarf for my gran. I know it's not the season but she is 92 (this year) and feels the cold.
The knitting itself wasn't difficult - a repeating knit two, pearl two pattern called chess board pattern in German. I like the effect and it is very warm.
I've got lots of future knitting plans lined up but I may revisit this one for Christmas presents.

Make It Monday - Knitted Blanket
I don't have a new finished project to share with you this week. I haven't lost my creative drive but I'm working on a bigger knitting project and still sewing those heat cushions.
Instead, I thought I would show you how my knitted blanket patches are going. I'm up to eight now. Each one has a different technique or stitch ans I am loving in. Number nine is sat on our craft bench waiting to go when the bigger project is done.
Knitting is really good for me at the moment - very relaxing. I was surprised to discover that many colleagues are knitters too. It feels good to still be learning new skills and keeping my brain active.

Make it Monday - Knitted Newborn Booties
This is the latest project in my new knitting course. Cute little booties. Too small for Isabella but they will make a nice gift for someone so it's just as well they are gender neutral for now. (I plan to add a lining at some point.
This was a more technical project and it was good to practise new skills.
Looking forward to the next one!

Make it Monday - Knitted Patchwork Blanket
I don't have a finished product to share this week but I have been busy working away on these patches for my blanket.
I recently started buying a new magazine which is a knitting course. Each issue guides you through two patches using new techniques learnt that fortnight.
Even though I wasn't a complete beginner, I'm already learning lots of new tehniques and there are plenty of projects to keep me going.
Baby bootees next!

Make it Monday - Knitted Mug Warmer
I've recently started a knitting course and here is my first completed project. I loved the edging when I saw the picture and couldn't believe how easy it was to do.
It needs a little decoration and then I think it will make a lovely gift for someone special.

30 things - Knit a Baby Cardigan
I'm so pleased with this project. I started knitting two years ago and this was by far my biggest project yet. It was the most complex and I learnt some new skills (thank goodness for YouTube).
I'm going to add a couple of buttons but otherwise this is ready for the baby. I kept it neutral for obvious reasons but I plan to make another with the colourful stripes of the original pattern as soon as I know which colours to use.
Now I am just waiting for the zipper to finish my other April project!

Knitting Project
It took a little longer than I thought but I loved putting this little guy together. He is another character from one of the books from my mum - same as the whale and the Easter chicks from last year. There are also a few accessories I may make the little guy...

Knitted Penguin Jumper
My second knitting project of the week is this penguin jumper. It was a little more involved than my whale earlier this week but still fairly quick - done in just three days and it allowed me to use up some of my crazy coloured extra wool.
The jumper is part of this project and I'll be posting it off later in the week.

Knitted Whale
While waiting for some a wool shopping trip to finish another project I am working on, I had a browse through some of the patterns I have and the wool I have and here is the result. I think it is very cute. Looking forward to working on some more of these projects.
