Make it Monday - Christmas Tea Light Holders

 While Mum was here I got cracking on the first of my Christmas gifts so that she could transport them back to England.

 First we went to Ikea and stocked up on glass tea light holders.

 Then I got out my gonis stencils, relief paste and some spatulas and Mum helped me whip up forty of these holders with the help of some mulled wine.

 I love these designs and made up different pairings to gift to different friends.

 It's an effective technique. I look forward to making some non-Christmas ones next year.

28 things...make candles!

I completely loved this little project.  I used some of my Christmas money to buy a little candle making kit.  It makes four small candles - two round ones, one square and one star shaped.  The process was relatively straight forward up until I was taking them out of the moulds and cutting away the extra wick and Nico, the scientist in the house, pointed out I had them upside down - oops!  Luckily, I was able to rescue them.  The perfect project for these cold, dark evenings.

Candle Holders

I first got this idea for a new craft attempt at a party over the Summer.  I finally got around to it last week in the holidays - Autumn candle holders.  I was really pleased with the effect above.  We already had some nice jars that we had been using as drinking glasses so I used those and some craft paper with my craft glue from the box project back in January.

In Idee I also saw some lovely paper that I thought would go really well in our bedroom with the red theme and I was really pleased with those results too - although Pete is less than impressed with the reduced sitting space on the windowsill!
