Links

Here are some fun / interesting things I've been reading lately.

I need to read this every day.

Always love articles like this.

It's like she looked into my head!

Progress I could make in 2016.

Still miss her.

Good news for my family history progress.

Still love Rachel's posts.

Another Elise project I want to make my own.

Make it Monday - Hexagonal Pot Holder

This week I tried a quick little sewing project (my first of 2016) using this easy-to-follow tutorial.

Elise had two versions and on reading her tutorial, I thought I'd prefer the one with quilted lines. On making it though, I actually liked the open version.

Thisis going to be a gift for a friend but I can see myself making more of these.

Recipe: Paleo Kohlrabi Lasagne

With my Christmas vouchers I invested in a new paleo book for some new inspiration when trying to eat well this year.

The first recipe we made was a success - a lasagne with layers of kohlrabi instead of pasta and a sauce from onions, garlic, mince, tomatoes, coconut milk and spinach.

It was healthy and delcious. Plus, a batch makes four servings so we can reheat the leftovers tomorrow.

2016 Goals

Here are my main goals this year:
  • Become a civil servant.
  • Pay off my credit card debt.
  • Clear the clutter.
  • One date night per month.
  • Start running again.
  • Work on our family tree.
  • Write more letters.
  • Develop my crafting skills.
  • Work on my writing.
Each one is a sign of progress in one area of my life.

One Little Word

Each year for about three years now, I've been choosing One Little Word to guide me through the next twelve months. Sometimes they stick with me and sometimes I lose focus. I've tried to choose one that's specific enough to keep with me and general enough to fit most of my specific goals.

This year my One Little Word is...

Progress

I wanted something that will help me move on after our relatively calm year. I didn't want a word that was synonomous with growth because some of my goals are about cutting back. I didn't want a word like change because I like where things are right now.

Progress fits perfectly, progress, develop, advance...here's to making waves in 2016!

Progress Report

Look at Nico's chillis going great too!
I mentioned a while ago, a craft project I did to turn an old Christmas plastic boot into a little flower pot.  I planted the seeds in March and they are growing fantastically.  The seeds on the balcony are starting to come through too, but I'm thinking of planting some of these seeds out there too now that it's getting warmer.  Here are the before and after pics.

Progress.

I made some progress on my Get Out Of Debt Plan that I was roughly discussing yesterday today.  So...I had an interview at the Volkhochschule today, that's like a night school and they teach over thirty languages and they have offered me two courses!  Both conversational English, one basic and one advanced.  Unfortunately it doesn't start until Autumn and will clash with French but it's still good news.  Roll on Autumn!
