This week started off relaxing and then got a little crazy towards the end. I'm going to start with the low points so that I can end this post on a high note.
- Getting a phone call on Wednesday (August 1st) to be told that my contract would not in fact be starting that day but on the 29th and that there is indeed a pile of paperwork to be sorted between now and then.
- Said paperwork leading to the chicken and egg situation that I need a doctors appointment (or a piece of paper from him to say I can work) but have no health insurance while between contracts. Plus, my doctor is on holiday...
- Having to sign on as unemployed for the first time in my life in order to make rent in September. This also involves a mountain of paperwork if I'm to get the money on time and the most important form has to be sent off to my past / future employers.
Good things that happened this week.
- I stayed on top of my 10k training programme (although only lost one pound).
- Had a lovely date night with Nico on Wednesday for dinner and jazz - more on both of those later.
- We finally put up the mosquito net for our bedroom (we've had it almost a year).
- Gorgeous weather.
- My best friend went into labour yesterday so we will definitely be meeting baby Bradshaw on our visit home. So exciting!!
Next week will be better. Although Monday is going to be all about seeing the doctor and handing these forms in / sending them off, we are heading to Nico's family with Pete next week for a few days. I'm really looking forward to it.
