Stockholm!

We've just got back from a lovely week in Stockholm.  We wanted to try a new place and my Dad and I like to visit capital cities.  As he could fly from London and we could fly from Bremen, we decided to give Stockholm a go and we weren't disappointed.
We had three full days there.  On the first day it snowed, which was very atmospheric.  We visited the Vasa Museum dedicated to a ship that lay under the waters of Stockholm harbour for 333 years after sinking on its maiden voyage.  It was really interesting.

On the second day we stayed in Gamla Stan - the old part of the city where our hostel was.  We visited the royal palace and saw the changing of the guard.  The palace is still used by the royal family.  There are several museum section including the underground area which is dedicated to the original castle which burned down in the 17th century.

On the final day we wandered around Södermalm before heading into the centre to visit the history museum to learn more about Sweden.  This museum was especially good for Isabella.

We had a good time and enjoyed some of the local cuisine.  Although prices are a little high, I didn't find them too bad compared to capitals like London. The people were friendly and everybody spoke English.  The hostel was basic but clean and the other guests were generally friendly.  This was another highlight of the trip for Isabella.
