Summer break

As regular readers will know, I am getting married next week!  Tomorrow we head off to Schneverdingen to get ready for the fun and the chaos that the wedding will bring and then we are heading to Scotland on our honeymoon.

Obviously this means that I won't be updating the blog everyday as I have tried to do for almost two years now.

I am honestly a little torn.  I love blogging and making regular updates but on the other side, I feel my posts on here are becoming a little stale and I think it will do me good to take the rest of the summer off to first of all have a break, and then to regroup and try to get my creative juices flowing and do something more with this little space of mine.

So I wish you a long, lovely and relaxing Summer and I'll see you on the other side! xx

Project Life Update

Getting ahead of myself last week meant a quick update this week.  At the beginning of the week you can see the end of our week in England.  I also journalled a little bit on that as well as bringing back lots of things to insert.

Back in Bremen, we settled back into the flat with gardening and cooking and lots and lots of wedding planning!  I also wrote some thoughts on the planning that we got done - you can see the orders of service in progress up there in the corner and then our trip to Schneverdingen for more planning.

I love the tied in colour theme this week.  As well as a note to self on taking more photos (shouldn't be a problem in the next couple of weeks!!), I want to spend a little more time putting this together each week to give the album a more coherent look.

The Matrix

source
Just fourteen years late to the party, I finally got around to watching this film on Sunday, while Nico was working on a new computer project.

I believe I have seen at least part of this film before but I either was concentrating, got bored, or fell asleep.  This time, I managed the whole two hours plus and really enjoyed it.

The stars were great, I loved the concept and didn't even mind the overt religious connotations.  It popped up on a lot of the 'one to watch' film lists that I have browsed through and I can see why - highly recommended (if there is anyone else left out there who hasn't seen it).  I'm looking forward to the sequel.

Perfectionism

Video overload at the moment but I saw this via YesandYes yesterday and spent the whole 78 seconds saying 'oh yeah!' out loud!!  Watch out Nico - this may become my new library system and who knows how we will find things then!!

Bird watching

Last week Nico ordered a camcorder so that, among other things, we can take some videos at the wedding.  He has been experimenting already and on Saturday managed to capture this fantastic shot of a little bird who is living in the bird house next to our front balcony (a present from Nico's grandad).  Obviously the birds are very shy so this was a great use of the camcorder and a pleasure to watch.

The Saturday Update

Well what a week - or two weeks given that I missed last week's update.

We finished off the school year in style with a play from one of the year five classes - telling the story of the Bremen musicians, before giving out our first ever class reports.

On the first day of the holidays we headed off to England for a week of catching up with friends and family.  On the Friday we had my Dad's side of the family over along with some friends.

On Saturday we had a get together at my Mum's and got train tickets booked for those coming to the wedding.  We stayed overnight and headed off early on Sunday to do the Race for Life in Cheshire before a lovely Sunday lunch at Blacker Hall Farm and dinner at my sister's.

On Monday we drove down to London for the Michael Buble concert which was fantastic.

We had a lovely day shopping in Milton Keynes on Tuesday before we drove back up to Morley for a lovely dinner with Dad and Gran.

On our last day we went to the National Mining Museum.  My Gran's husband was a miner and even though she has never been underground there, she loves to go for a look around.  Nico and I did go down the mine itself and take the tour.  It was really interesting (I only had vague memories from going down there as a child) and before we knew it, we'd been down there eighty minutes!  I can't believe they are threatening to close this little gem.  It's a great museum for young and old.

Afterwards, I played dominoes with Gran.

And after dinner, we took part in the pub quiz and our friend won!

We had a short flight on Thursday and a quiet day on Friday, getting lots done and basically, this weekend will be more of the same.

Next week we have a fairly slow week but at the same time, lots to do depending how the weekend goes.  On Monday we are going to Schneverdingen to pick out our flowers, on Tuesday I am catching up with a friend I haven't seen for a while and Thursday is Nico's birthday so we will be out and about for that!  My aim is to do as much as possible this week so that there is as little stress as possible the week after - 13 days and counting!!

Project Life Update

For most of this week we were back in England.  It was manic - hence the missed update on Saturday but it meant we took lots of photos and I was able to put together this week's spread very quickly.  The biggest problem this week was choosing which pictures to put in.

I wanted to reflect the time we spent catching up with friends and family so there are lots of people pictures.  We did the Race for Life which you can see in the top right hand corner and we saw Michael Buble on Monday night - photos in the bottom right corner.  I included our ticket and wrist bands as well as the card from Blacker Hall Farm where we enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch.

I love the spread this week.

Project Life Update

Here's week 12 of this fantastic project.  This one was all about project week at work and seeing off another year ten group.  In the bottom right hand corner you can also check out Nico enjoying his new toy - the rowing machine.

July Goals

Yes, I'm keeping it simple this month!
